NICU Nurses

The support from Fearfully & Wonderfully Made is a truly needed ministry. Their support for NICU families during their baby’s hospital stay eases a burden that many never even knew was needed. The goody bags that are given to parents are filled with practical, much-needed items and also keepsakes to encourage and commemorate milestones during their baby’s journey. But outside of the physical elements that FWM provides, the spirit of caring and love that this organization conveys is beyond measure; and that is made possible by your generous donations and support.

Not only does FWM minister to the patients and families of the NICU, but they are a tremendous encouragement and support to the NICU staff. FWM works in tandem with volunteer families to provide monthly meals, feeding staff, and inpatient families. They also frequently stock the staff breakroom with snacks and small trinkets that recognize the staff’s dedication to their profession.

From Brooke Thorton

Catie and her ministry have been a blessing to our babies, their families, and the medical staff. The support given by FWM meets a variety of needs which range from gifts, emotional/spiritual support, Parents Night Out annually for NICU parents, etc. I have personally been told by parents how grateful they are to have FWM provide somewhere for them to stay while their baby is in the NICU. Once while I was walking a mom and baby out of the hospital following their discharge I met Catie in the lobby. She had some food and money for a family needing assistance to pay their electric bill. I have also seen her provide gas money to a mother so she could visit her baby. These are just a few things I have witnessed, and I know there are countless others.

The awareness Catie brings to our community for the NICU is incredible. She makes sure people understand the needs and importance of the NICU experience. This ministry is so important and impactful for the mothers experiencing the different challenges they face while their baby is staying in the NICU. Mothers expect to come home soon after delivery and immediately start caring for their infant. It’s difficult for them when they are discharged home and have to leave the baby behind. This is where Catie and her ministry walk alongside them.

From Melissa Duncan

Have you ever met a really selfless person? Well, let me tell you about Catie Swenson and her team at Fearfully and wonderfully made! She set herself on a mission to help NICU families and created this wonderful organization to fully support not only NICU families but us nurses as well. Her team has gained the support of the entire community in meeting our family’s needs. What started as the creation of a small blessing bag for moms to just help ease their stay as they transition to NICU life, has blossomed into an organization that fully supports us all! If she is aware of a need, she is going to go full circle until that need is met. From the first encounter with a blessing bag gift to offering a free night of childcare years later, she finds ways to remain supportive to our NICU families. Her team also wholly supports our nurses and the unit as well! She fully believes in taking care of the ones that are taking care of the little ones. I appreciate every meal, snack, and token of support she has given to us! A huge thank you to everyone at FWM.
